Welcome to Fairmead in Bloom, our community competition celebrating the incredible things you've been growing this summer. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or a complete beginner, we'd love to see what you've created! 🌿
About the Competition
Fairmead in Bloom is a community competition open to all residents who have had a rainwater planter installed as part of our rainwater management project.
There are two categories to enter, so whether you're going for the most stunning display or encouraging a young gardener in your household, there's a place for everyone.
- 🌸 Prettiest Planter: Show us your most beautiful, creative, or eye-catching planter display. Open to all residents.
- 🌱 Young Growers: Got a budding gardener at home under the age of 16? This one's for them. Show us what they've been growing and let them take the glory!

Prettiest Planter Winner
- £100 local garden voucher to spend at a local garden centre of your choice
- Kleen Kanteen x Frank Water Bottle: a beautiful water bottle from Frank Water, a charity dedicated to bringing clean water to communities around the world
Young Growers Winner
- £100 local garden voucher to spend at a local garden centre of your choice
- Bee Bomb and Bug Hotel a wildflower seed bomb to create a pollinator patch, plus a bug hotel to welcome wildlife into your garden 🐝
How to Take Part
Step 1: Plant up your planter 🌱
Get planting! Not sure where to start? Check our free planting guide for ideas and tips on the best plants for your rainwater planter, no experience needed.

Step 2: Grow and nurture 🌸
Watch your planter come to life throughout July and August. Use the water stored in your planter tap to keep your plants happy. Rainwater is actually better for plants than tap water!
Step 3: Take a photo 📸
When you're happy with how your planter looks, take a clear photo showing your display. Make sure the whole planter is visible and the photo is taken in good daylight for the best results.
Step 4: Submit your entry 🏆
Upload your photo using the link below before the submission deadline in early September. Don't forget to let us know which category you're entering!
