Our Rainwater is working in collaboration with Caroline Ansell MP and the Blue Heart Project to provide 100 free 'slow release' water butts to householders within key target locations that are at high risk of surface water flooding in Eastbourne. These have been provided by Southern Water in partnership with Caroline Ansell MP. The aim of the scheme is to improve surface water management, help improve bathing water quality and to provide householders with a supply of water to achieve resilience against drought. The scheme also aims to support the wider goals of the Blue Heart Project to reduce the impact of flooding within the Eastbourne and South Wealden catchments. The 'slow release' water butts work by capturing rainwater during storms, and releasing it slowly into the drainage system so they are less likely to be overwhelmed.
